Spring has sprung and with the end of March, comes the March Roofing Academy Member of the Month! This month, our team is excited to introduce you to Joshua Van Zee, owner of Elite Renovations of Platte, South Dakota.
Joshua is a newer member of the Roofing Academy, but he is by no means new to the roofing industry. He first got his start working alongside his grandfather and uncle when he was still in high school. When he isn’t busy at work, you can find him enjoying the great outdoors. How long have you been in the roofing industry?
20 years and counting, I started in high school with my grandfather and uncle.
What is your favorite part about working in the roofing industry?
The opportunity to take care of our customer’s homes and the opportunity to create a change in someone’s lifestyle working with us!

What has your experience with The Roofing Academy been like?
It has been amazing, they have a great team and are extremely helpful and caring about helping us grow and expand our company. They obviously have put a lot of time and effort into building this course and working with other contractors and it shows in every way!
What advice would you give a newcomer to the roofing industry?
Things happen, but there is a lesson in everything that happens. Work smart and diligently. Invest in yourself and your dreams. Never give up and Keep your chin up!

Siding and Roofing
What does your ideal day off look like?
An ideal day would be out hunting bobcat or mountain lions with my hounds and friends or hunting elk in the mountains, the freedom and the adrenaline rush are what really makes for a great day.

I am the oldest of 8 siblings and being outside is what makes me enjoy life.
